What It Is
Greystone Medical Silicone Foley Catheter is a fully silicone, 3-way indwelling urinary catheter designed for continuous bladder irrigation and urine drainage. Available in 16Fr with a 30ml retention balloon, it is manufactured free of BPA, DEHP, phthalates, and natural rubber latex, making it a safer option for patients with latex sensitivities or those requiring long-term catheterization. It is a single-use, Rx-only device for use by or under the supervision of a qualified healthcare professional.
Three-Way Design for Drainage & Irritation
Unlike standard 2-way catheters, the 3-way design includes a third lumen dedicated to continuous bladder irrigation. This allows a sterile irrigating solution to be introduced into the bladder through one port while urine and fluid drain out through the drainage lumen simultaneously. This continuous flow capability is essential for clearing blood clots, tissue chips, and surgical debris following procedures such as transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) or bladder tumor resection (TURBT).
30ml Retention Balloon
The large 30ml balloon provides robust retention within the bladder, which is particularly important in post-operative cases where bladder spasms or elevated intravesical pressure could dislodge a smaller balloon. Once inflated with sterile water, the balloon anchors the catheter against the bladder neck for secure, reliable placement throughout the drainage and irrigation period.
100% Silicone Construction
The catheter’s fully silicone construction offers several advantages over latex or latex-coated alternatives. Silicone is biologically inert, meaning it produces minimal tissue reaction and is better tolerated for extended placement. It does not absorb urinary proteins or encrust as readily as other materials, and it remains flexible and soft without degrading over time.
Reinforced Tip & Orientation Features
The catheter features a reinforced insertion tip and opposing drainage eyelets that facilitate smooth insertion while reducing the risk of tip damage or mucosal trauma during placement. A striped shaft provides a clear visual orientation guide, helping clinicians confirm proper positioning and avoid rotation errors during insertion.
